Allard Center gymnasts take trio of trophies

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - On March 12 and 13 the Goffstown YMCA Allard Center gymnastics team took home three team trophies from the Eastern Massachusetts and New Hampshire League Championships in Framingham, Mass.

The Allard Center team, with gymnasts in levels 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9, competed against nine other YMCA squads at the event.

Team trophies were award to the Level 5, Level 8 and Level 4 teams, which placed second, third and fourth, respectively.

Several individuals turned in top performances at the competition, including Megan Aimen, who was first on the vault in Level 4; Amelia Ascencia, first on the vault in Level 4; Nicole Silva, first on the floor in Level 4; Alex Halle, first on the bars, beam, floor and all-around in Level 5; Nikki Fagundes, first on the bars in Level 5; and Amanda Campbell on the bars and beam in Level 9.

The team is coached by Meg Norklun, Carol Rzasa, Katie Lane, Kelly Vallee and Irene Day.

“I am very pleased with how well the entire team did at the event,” said Norklun, gymnastics director at the Goffstown Allard Center YMCA. “Their hard work has really paid off, and I am very proud of all of them.”

The girls will compete in the Tri-State Championships April 8 to 10 in Beverly, Mass. Also, the Northeast Gymnastics Championships, from May 13 to 15, will be hosted by the Goffstown Allard Center YMCA at St. Anselm College.
