Police report six arrests
during a single weekend
Weare police marked an unusually busy weekend beginning Saturday, Jan. 21, with a total of six arrests in a 14-hour period. Christopher Chandler, 19, and Elizabeth Ravagno, 19, of Weare, was arrested by Officer William Duffy following a traffic stop. Both were charged with possession of marijuana, according to a press release from the police department. Sheena Boisvert, 21, of Weare, was arrested by Officer Robert Peterson on a warrant charging her with theft by unauthorized taking in an incident that occurred in December. It is alleged that Boisvert stole $61 from another employee at Lancot's Grocery. Philip Ekstrand, 43, of Weare, was arrested on a charge of criminal threatening following an incident in Manchester. Ekstrand allegedly threatened his estranged wife. Officer Ann Hull and Detective Ken Cox responded to Ekstrand's Clough Park Road residence and took him into custody. He was subsequently turned over to the Manchester Police Department. Matthew Mackay, 31, of River Road in Weare, was arrested by Sgt. James Carney after a close call where Mackay nearly collided with a Weare police cruiser that was on a motor vehicle stop on River Road. When Carney attempted to stop Mackay with lights and siren, Mackay refused to stop and was pursued to his residence, where he was arrested. He was charged with DWI and disobeying a police officer. Mark Rettig, 21, of Hatfield Road in Weare, was arrested by Carney for DWI second offense. Following a frantic 911 call from a Clark Mill Road resident who said that someone was attempting to break into her house, Carney and Detective Ken Cox responded to the residence and apprehended Rettig in the driveway. It was later learned that Rettig was involved in a rollover accident two streets away from Clark Mill Road. Rettig had mistakenly assumed he was at a friend's house.
