Grasmere store owner
stabbed at city store
By Rod Hansen The owner of the Grasmere General Store was stabbed three times during the robbery of a separate store on Saturday, March 18, according to reports confirmed by a store employee. Imtiaz Saeed, 55, of Manchester, was allegedly stabbed by Scott Robinson, 43, also of Manchester, during the robbery of Crosstown Variety at 270 Amory St. in Manchester. Police arrested Robinson without incident later that evening, according to Manchester Police Sgt. Mark Fowke. Robinson was located at his girlfriend’s residence at 25 Laval St. on Manchester’s West side. Police later discovered a selfinflicted knife wound to Robinson’s chest, Fowke said. Robinson was arraigned on a Class A felony robbery charge in his room at Manchester’s Elliot Hospital on Monday, March 20. Bail has been set at $75,000 cash or corporate surety, Fowke said. An employee of the Grasmere General Store confirmed that Saeed is the owner of both stores. Saeed could be seen working behind the counter at both stores from time to time. Fowke said Saeed had been taken to Catholic Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition at press time.
