GOFFSTOWN
Two Goffstown men stabbed
By Rod Hansen Police released the names of two local brothers stabbed in a weekend fight, and say the case may take months to solve. Logan Janas, 18, of Black Brook Road, Goffstown, and Nicholas Janas, 21, of College Road, Goffstown, both suffered knife wounds in a fight that took place on Mountain Base Road on Saturday, Aug. 26, police said. Nicholas Janas reportedly received stab wounds to the back, while Logan suffered stab wounds to the chest, according to police reports. Logan Janas was also struck by a black Nissan Maxima, Goffstown Police Capt. Glenn DuBois said. The fight was an extension of an argument that began earlier in the evening in Pinardville, DuBois said. “It appears two females got into a disagreement earlier in the evening, and that disagreement escalated between two groups of youths from Goffstown and Manchester,” said DuBois. “They agreed to meet at Mountain Base Pond, and it turned into a fight between the males. At some point two of them were knifed or stabbed,” DuBois said. Police arrived at the scene on Mountain Base Road in response to a call from residents who heard yelling and screaming in the area. Callers also reported hearing gunshots in the disturbance, and DuBois said police are still investigating that aspect of the report. Several cars were damaged during the rumble, either from being hit by baseball bats or being struck by other cars, Dubois said. A number of officers responded to the scene, including Sgt. Robert Marcoux, Sgt. Robert Browne, as well as officers Thomas Hammond, Matthew Barber and Keith Chauvette. Several people fled when police arrived, DuBois said. Nicholas Janas was found at the scene and later transported to Catholic Medical Center. Logan Janas had already been taken away from the scene by a group of friends, but was located when their car pulled into the McDonald’s parking lot on Mast Road. He was taken to Elliot Hospital in Manchester. More than a dozen individuals were likely involved at the height of the brawl ranging in ages from teenagers to young adults, DuBois said. Police impounded two vehicles in the investigation, DuBois said. One of those vehicles is inoperable, while the other bears evidence relevant to the investigation, he said. No suspects have been arrested for the stabbings, though police arrested two individuals at the scene in relation to other investigations, DuBois said. The incident has spawned an investigation that may take months to unravel, DuBois said. At this point, he said police do not consider this to be gang activity, he said.
