MANCHESTER
DS girls, coaches honored
Following
a surprising run to the Class S
girls basketball state title game,
athletes and coaches from the
Derryfield School were named
to numerous post-season all-star
teams.
Leading the way was Kendra
Decelle. The DS guard was named
the New Hampshire Basketball
Coaches Organization's Class
S Player of the Year. In addition,
Decelle was named to the
Granite State Conference South
Senior All-Star Team, NHBCO
Granite Games Class S Senior
All-Star Team and the Granite
State South All-Conference
First Team. She also earned the
Derryfield Class of '70 Award.
Her coach, Ed Lemire, was
picked as the NHBCO's Class S
Varsity Coach of the Year, while
Monty Burge was named the
NHBCO's Class S Sub-varsity
Coach of the Year for his work
with the Cougars' junior varsity
squad. Lemire also coached
the Granite State Conference
South Senior All-Star Team
and NHBCO Granite Games
Class S Senior All-Star Team,
while assistant coach Michelle
Coombes joined Lemire at the
NHBCO Granite Games.
Lemire and David Haight
were inducted into the New
Hampshire Coaches Association
Hall of Fame on March 20.
Other DS players honored
this year included Tory Starr,
who earned a New Hampshire
Commission on the Status of
Women Award. She was also
picked to join Decelle on the
Granite State Conference South
Senior All-Star Team.
Rachel Romanowsky, who
was named co-captain for next
year's team along with Molly
Lyford, was a Granite State South
All-Conference First Team pick,
as well as an NHBCO All-State
Second Team selection.
Stephanie Foote was an
NHBCO All-State Honorable
Mention pick.
The NHBCO All-Academic
Team included Decelle, Starr,
Lyford and Katt Bolduc.
