Hooksett Woman dies in crash on Route 3
By Nicholas Brown A Concord woman was killed Monday, Dec. 5, after her Lincoln Town Car collided head-on with a 10-wheel truck on Route 3 in Hooksett, just south of Allenstown. State police said Mayumi Titus, 50, appeared to have lost control of her vehicle at about 8:35 a'm., causing the vehicle to collide with a truck, carrying 500 gallons of water and seed, driven by Wendall Thompson, 42, of Framingham, Mass. Titus was pronounced dead upon arrival at Concord Hospital. Neither Thompson nor another passenger in the truck were injured. Police said Thompson appeared to have swerved the truck to avoid the Town Car, but the two vehicles collided on the east side of the state highway. State Police Sgt. Jim Player said investigators are exploring a number of possible causes for the accident including driver distraction or solar glare, and said black ice was another possibility. "When the first responders got there it appeared to be pretty slippery in the area," he said. Player said the stretch of Route 3 at which the accident occurred is covered overhead by tree limbs, perhaps explaining the lingering ice from the weekend's precipitation. Hooksett police said a portion of Route 3 was shut down for five hours after the accident.
