Firefighters walk for MDA

By Nicholas Brown
Staff Writer

Hooksett commuters on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 31, may have wondered where the fire was as they saw a gang of firefighters in their work gear walking along Route 3.

They needn’t have worried.

The 11 firefighters, including all three of the department’s chiefs, were walking to raise awareness about their fundraising effort to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The crew which also included Hooksett Town Administrator David Jodoin walked 5.3 miles, from Alice Avenue, on the south side of town, all the way into the Village.

Hooksett firefighters have also been raising money through a “Fill the Boot” campaign, with proceeds going to the MDA, which is also the benefactor of the Jerry Lewis telethon.

Knox said the department is up to about $18,000 this year, and said the walk was an effort to raise awareness in town.
