Time to celebrate
If you think about it, the way we celebrate the Fourth of July hasn’t changed a lot over the years. It’s still a day full of oldfashioned fun. Parades, flags and family get-togethers remain the best thing about the day. And topping it off are everyone’s favorite – fireworks. Salem, Pelham and Windham will each have their own display. Times and places are on Page A-1, so there’s no excuse to miss your town’s pyrotechnics this year. There’s something about those bright colors bursting against a dark summer sky after a day of barbecued food and cold drinks shared with family and friends that is quintessentially American. This is our holiday. So let go of your angst over politics and the economy, and for one day, embrace your patriotism, take part in your town celebration and be a part of the American fabric. Red, white and blue, of course. - Editorials published by Neighborhood News Inc. are written by an editorial board.
